Dr. John Horn High School opened in 2000 as the fifth comprehensive high school in Mesquite ISD. Located on a 50-acre campus, the school serves approximately 3,200 students in grades 9 through 12, drawing from southern Mesquite and the Mesquite ISD portion of Seagoville. In fall 2024, Horn expanded to include a 9th Grade Center, designed to better support the growing student population.
When it first opened, Horn High School welcomed just 550 students in 9th and 10th grade. As the community grew, so did the campus, reaching over 2,000 students by the 2006–2007 school year.
